Thanks to the in-form world number one Jannik Sinner, Italy defeated Netherlands 2-0 to win the Davis Cup for the second time in a row. Italy remained away from the Davis Cup title for almost 25 years, but with the arrival of Sinner, it has got the pride of becoming the champion for the second time in a row. Sinner made Italy the winner by defeating Talon Grekspor in straight sets 7-6 (2), 6-2.

Berrettini wins first singles
Earlier, Matteo Berrettini had given Italy a 1-0 lead by defeating Botic Van de Gendschulp, who defeated Rafael Nadal in his last match, 6-4, 6-2. Sinner said after the victory, “Becoming champions once again being the defending champions, there can be no better feeling than this for us.” Italy got tremendous support from the 9 thousand two hundred spectators sitting in Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena. The supporters of Italy left no stone unturned in encouraging their team with the beats of mega phones and drums. Italy is the first team to become champion twice after the Czech Republic won the Davis Cup title twice in a row in 2012 and 2013.

The whole team celebrated
Last Wednesday, the Italian women’s team defeated Slovakia to win the Billie Jean King Cup title. Italy’s team captain Filippo Volandri said – The men’s team has made us more proud with the victory. Sinner’s record in Davis Cup here is 4-0. This includes the victory in the quarter-finals against Argentina in doubles with Berrettini. As soon as Sinner won, Berrettini and the whole team came on the court and started celebrating by embracing each other. Volandri picked up Sinner and waved him in the air. Sinner hit 15 aces against Greecespor. Sinner, who won the ATP Finals title a week ago, has not lost in the last 14 matches and 26 sets. This year he has also won the Australian and US Open titles.
